Last Update: April 26th, 2008

  • Yep...it's been forever since we updated this page, but there's some cool stuff to share! Looming LARGER has a couple of new members. Bob Von Der Linn has joined us on Bass Guitar, and Tom Sweinberg has joined us on Drums. Welcome aboard!

We also have updated our site to include a link to our electronic press kit which features 3 MP3's to check out.

We have a gig scheduled June 21st in Nashville, TN to compete in the Fortune magazine "Battle of the Corporate Bands". We've been picked to play at the Regional playoff, with the Finals at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland, October 3rd & 4th, 2008. We hope to go all the way!

    About The Band:

Looming Larger had once been described as an "Electric-Folk-Rock Power-Duo". Why? Well, back in the day there were only two guys. Oh yes, don't forget Ringo the Drum Machine. Now- with a real live rhythm section we can be called a "Power Quartet". It's a brand new era!
    A bit of history....

The band was in it's prime playing several gigs in the Milwaukee area in 1990-1991 including a couple of gigs at the world famous Shank Hall. Their songs explore the subjects of Nuns (Go Be A Nun, Sister Carmean), Bruce Springsteen (Who Made Bruce the Boss?), the Milwaukee County Zoo (Dave Schultz), Suntanning and Mr. Nude America-1973 (Dick Bacon), and "...driving fast & makin' all the lights" (Bioreactor). The band performing covers of Yo La Tengo's Drug Test, Talking Heads' Life During Wartime, Elvis Costello's Pump It Up, Psychedelic Furs' Pretty In Pink, and Pixies' Where Is My Mind?, (and beating the '80's nostalgia by 5 years), places an exclamation point on the 'Larger vision.

Unfortunately, Looming Larger in the late 80's/early 90's were before their time, none of their material has ever been released. However, there are a few very rare bootleg tapes that have made their way to CD. They are infinitely collectable!
