  • How Cool is this?
We have been chosen as one of the bands supplying a "Mystery Cover" to the Elvis Costello Mystery Cover Song web page to be featured Friday, January 9th, 2004!

It's a version of "Pump It Up" as performed on the Looming LARGER "Weaving Bigger Rugs" tour back in '89! Special thanks to Stevie "Little Lickey" for Engineering the track, and webmaster J. Harrison for picking up on our efforts!!

  • Just got back from Walls Have Ears, we're 99% complete on "Corn", "Guy Is Alive", and "Georgia (O'Keefe)", looking to get back 12/19 to close it out.
Next step: let's put Frank (Should I Shake One Out of my Sleeve? on tape, and see if it sticks.

  • Rich and Todd ran into "The Coach" (AKA: Mark Shurilla) at SHANK HALL. We were all there checking out CURT KIRKWOOD's solo acoustic show which, by the way, was more like a Meat Puppets "Unplugged" gig than anything else. 8/21/01

  • A huge thanks to everyone that saw us at the "Who's Done Dick?" art show! We shared the stage Friday, July 27th with the Mambo Surfers at the H2O Gallery, (907 S. 1st St., Milwaukee, WI, 53204, 2 blocks South of National Ave.) It was band's first gig in 10 years, and the first-ever with drummer Mark Kappel (or any drummer for that matter!). It was a blast! We played on the sidewalk outside the gallery enjoying perfect weather and a lovely crowd. We wanted to take all of them home with us. Lots of pictures were taken, check them out!
A special thanks to the MAMBO SURFERS who allowed us to plug-into their stuff, and play their drums.
An even more special thanks to the friends and family of DICK BACON who we met and shared some emotional moments with as we all remembered and paid tribute to a truly unique friend. 8/1/01

  • PRESS ALERT!
Doug Krimmer, owner of the H2O Gallery was interviewed by Channel 6 about the "Who's Done Dick?" show, and our "Dick Bacon" song was featured near the end of the segment! We checked it out this last Sunday, July 29th Ted Perry's "Perry's People" show, and we taped it. We hope to have a video clip that you can download on this site soon. 7/30/01

  • Check out the latest (July, 2001) issue of The Milwaukee Orbit newspaper. There's an article about the "Who's Done Dick?" show that features the poster Rich made for the original "Dick Bacon" song and a few lyrics- that is featured as part of the exhibit. We are famous once again! 7/31/01

  • Pictures from our June 15th/16th recording session are posted Here! 7/12/01

  • We are proud to announce that the H2O Gallery, (907 S. 1st St., Milwaukee, WI, 53204, 2 blocks South of National Ave.) has accepted the Looming Larger song "Dick Bacon" and associated 4/27/91 Gig Poster to be exhibited as part of a Dick Bacon Tribute show. The debut will occur as part of Gallery Night, Friday, July 27th, 2001 and will feature all manners of Dick Bacon art. As you may well know, Dick was active in the art community for many years, and was a nude model for scores of local art students until his untimely death last year (see below).
The "King of the Sun" inspired Rich Majeski to write the song back in 1990, and it still holds up well over the years. It will be transfered to a CD and playing on a boombox in the H2O Gallery, and along with Rich's poster, it will be a unique experience you won't want to miss.
Additionally, the band is planning a CD release, featuring the Original Version as heard on WKLH (see below), a newly-recorded Update Version, and outtakes from the WKLH radio show including an interview with Dick Bacon. Check back to this site for more details. 3/14/01

  • Legendary Milwaukee Nudist/Sun God Dick Bacon passed away on August 18th, 2000. He was 68 years old. As you may well know, the band Looming Larger wrote and performed in 1990 a respectful tribute song (Dick Bacon) about this man and his love for the Sun. The song was played on WKTI and WKLH as part of their morning radio shows in 1991 with their efforts to raise money for Dick's defense fund when he was (once again) busted for nude sunbathing. RIP, Dick. 2/22/01
